ALPACA SHEARING OPEN HOUSE

10 AM - 4 PM


Join us for our Alpaca Shearing Open House and see how we shear our alpacas, trim their toenails, check their teeth and their general health.

We are expecting 8 cria ( baby alpacas ) this year, always an exciting time!

Tour our fibre processing mill  Edy's Mills Fine Fibres where we take raw fleece to roving ( handspinning), batting ( quilts and duvets), felt, and spun yarn.

Visit our store where all products are made from our own Alpacas fleece as well as blends of other exotics.

Free to attend, food and refreshments available for purchase.

Look for us at the new Petolia Farmer's Market every Saturday starting May 29 through Oct. 3, 2010 from 7 am - noon each day. The newly built market is located across from the 'VPP' right behind the Petrolia Library on Main Street. Come see what we have to offer this year.

We have received our fleeces from the Navan Fair Alpaca Show, near Ottawa.
Our alpacas won:
Brier's Blue Tartan - 3rd at 2 years of age, still fine
Lucky Jo - 2nd at 3 years of age, still fine
Spirit - 1st at 6 years of age, still fine
Nino - 1 st at 10 years of age, still fine - WOW!!
McBeth - 2nd at 3 years of age, still fine
Rufus - 1st in his class and Grand Champion Grey Male! at 4 years of age still fine

In the fall of 2007 Brier Run Alpacas and Edy's Mills Fine Fibres were nominated for "The Premier's Award For Agri-Food Innovation Excellence". This nomination was submitted by the regional information coordinator for the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

We are thrilled to announce we were selected to receive one of 55 regional awards in Ontario! The award was presented in Glenco, Ontario
on Friday May 16th, 2008.
